Single of the Week: “Le Temple Volant” by Crumb & Melody’s Echo Chamber

Modern shoegazers Crumb and Psych’s reigning chanteuse Melody’s Echo Chamber have never come to mind as a collaboration that felt like the world needed. Both bands are fantastic, but their similarities never really gelled to me. And then I heard “Le Temple Volant.” What an airy, breezy groove of a song! I can listen to a song like this endlessly… I speak no French, and it doesn’t matter. This one-off single screams for a full-length collaboration of goodness like this. 

You can enjoy “Le Temple Volant” in all the usual places. Both Crumb and Melody’s Echo Chamber are currently on the road, sadly separately. Tour dates after the jump, and maybe enough streams of this track will get a clever booker to put the two bands together for a Spring package run? Please?

Outside Lands 2023: 22 Instant Set Reviews

Happy 15th Birthday, Outside Lands! I’ve been to 13 out of 15, which are pretty good odds if you ask me! And despite this being the “year of the throwing stuff at bands,” this may have been the kindest, friendliest Outside Lands yet! I don’t think I’ve had more lovely conversations with strangers in three days at any other point in my life. Folks were consistently watching out for each other on the ground, working together to get medical attention for folks quickly, even at the risk of losing their spot, sharing food and water, and all around being grade-A music fans. I had the most amazing Creole Garlic Noodles of my life. I had the worst vegan experiment of my life- a veggie lamb slider (I won’t tag the restaurant here). I had plenty of Rocko’s Ice Cream Tacos because Outside Lands isn’t complete without at least 1 taco a day.

Spinning Platters Interview: Niki Bodemann of Noise Pop

This year marks the 26th year that the Noise Pop Festival debuted at The Kennel Club (now The Independent). Since then, it’s grown to become one of the primary tastemaking music festivals in the world! Past performers that have broken shortly after their Noise Pop debut have included The White Stripes, Death Cab for Cutie, Tash Sultana, Vince Staples, and many, many more. Spinning Platters recently got to speak to Niki Bodemann, one of the bookers of the festival to talk about what it takes to make a week of music that even frustrates the most decisive music fan.

Spinning Platters: How long have you been booking for Noise Pop?

Niki Bodemann: So, I have been a full-time talent buyer at Noise Pop for like a year and three months now. Then before that, I was an assistant talent buyer.
