Playing this Friday at Gilman!

This week around the San Francisco Bay Area: Love! Honey! Medicine! Class war! Typos! Beards! And a moonlighting winemaker.

Let’s preview the week’s upcoming shows, shall we?

• Thursday, December 3rd

The California Honeydrops, Deva Mehal at The New Parish

The California Honeydrops may be the most universally loved thing to come out of Oakland since Tom Hanks. Their blend of soul, bluegrass, and jazz is perfect for the cold weather we are having, too!

Anna Nalick at Yoshi’s

• Friday, December 4th

The Lovemakers, The Trims, Irising, San Cha, Vanhein at 924 Gilman St

The Lovemakers are no longer in “reunion” mode, and are just playing shows. Sweaty, sexy, shows.

Merle Haggard at Paramount Theater

La Plebe, Descartes A Kant (Guadalajara), Cuevo Perez at Thee Parkside, San Francisco

Justin Townes Earle at the City Winery, Napa

• Saturday, December 5th

Jello Biafra & Guantanamo School Of Medicine, Arnocorps, Fleshies, Death Hymn No. 9, dj Russell Clash at Slim’s

The amazing Jello Biafra is a local hero. Arnocorps and The Fleshies aren’t too far behind, either. This show is simply going to be tons of fun!

The Weeknd, Halsey, Travis Scott at Oracle Arena

• Sunday, December 6th

Jonathan Richman, Bunnymilk at Great American Music Hall

Minimalism! (CMR)

Conspiracy of Beards at The Rite Spot, San Francisco

• Monday, December 7th

Aimee Mann, Ted Leo, Liz Phair, Jonathan Coulton at Bimbo’s 365 Club

• Tuesday, December 8th

Puscifer, Luchafer at The Fox Theater – Oakland

Puscifer is Maynard James Keenan’s weirdest project. It’s some amalgamation of gothic club music, country western, and performance art. Opening act Luchafer doesn’t exist anywhere on the internet in any way, which leads us to believe that it’s Maynard & gang doing Lucha Libre.

• Wednesday, December 9th

La Castenada, Inspector, Tijuana No!, Anima at Social Hall – SF

There was a time when infusing ska and punk was considered the most horrific fusion ever. However, in Mexico, people managed to blend the two genres in a fresh and fun way. Tonight at Social Hall – SF, we get to enjoy the best ska punk bill to EVER happen in SF. And, in case you still are two embarrassed to skank, La Castenada are a prog band. So you can finally learn how to play Magic in Spanish…
