
Labor Day weekend is filled with musical adventures in the Bay Area… Including two of the very, very few worthwhile summer shed shows that seem to be timed out perfectly for the weather getting good. Here are the highlights:

Mates of State brought their “Summer Crushes” tour to Great American Music Hall last week to promote their newest project, a covers album called Crushes. But rather than just show up and play, they brought along a traveling variety show. At the end of the night, though, it was the joyful music of Mates of State that I’m going to remember. One Serious Dancing Band
My night ended on a couch in the city followed by 4 hours of sleep and a massive hangover. How was I supposed to know I was going to have so much fun on a Wednesday?
My day started off like any other. I worked, exercised, and went to The Rickshaw Stop. Doing these things took time and various levels of prep. What I neglected to do was include dinner. I thought, “No worries, you’re not actually hungry AND you’ll get drunk quicker.” I was definitely right about that last part. [read the whole post]
