Happy Thanksgiving from Spinning Platters. I’ve got a lot of things for you to do other than shop this week. Maybe buy some merch for your little cousin? And, seriously, Black Friday may be the best show day in ages.Wednesday, November 25th

Deastro, Max Tundra, White Cloud at Bottom Of The Hill, 9 PM

For weeks, Editor in Chief Gordon Elgart had been telling me to listen to Max Tundra. And, well, I hadn’t. Until today. Super good, and not quite what I expected. He’s a little bit Elton John and a little bit awesome lofi techno artist. I’m going to be there tonight with my dancing shoes on, and you should join us!

Thursday, November 26th

It’s Thanksgiving. If the bar/club owner is making it’s people work today, you shouldn’t be spending any money there. It’s just cruel. Spend it with your family, eat too much, be merry.

Friday, November 27th

Saturday November 28th

Loquat, The New Up, The Cons, Lindy LaFontaine at Red Devil Lounge,

Loquat are a groovy, sexy tempo band, a la Zero 7, only disguised as

an indie rock band. Don’t attend this show expecting indie rock, but

do go expecting a pleasant, mellow time.

Sunday, November 29th

Rooney, Tally Hall, Crash Kings at Slim’s, 8 PM

Good looking guys that dress really well and sing really well, too. That’s

what this show will be. A wonderful evening of quirky power pop

by guys that both you and your little sister will think are hot.

Monday, November 30th

The Vic Chestnutt Band, The Silver Mt Z ion, godspeed! you black emporer,

Witches at Great American Music Hall, 8 PM

Vic Chestnutt is one of the greatest living songwriters, as well as an

American treasure. But, the real reason to go is to see the other legends,

godspeed! you black emperor, who are surprisingly low on this bill, but

it’s been a long time since these noise experimentalists have come

around. This is great value for the money.

David Archuleta, Benton Paul at The Warfield, 7 PM

Tuesday, December 1st

Little Girls, Weekend at Hemlock Tavern, 9 PM

Warm and fuzzy lo-fidelity goodness. Plain and simple.
