The Little Sister Show at Cinecave at Lost Weekend Video
It’s billed as “An Evening Of Experiments and Comedy, Curated by Your Little Sister.” I have no idea what that means, however the lineup gets you a pretty solid sampling of some of the brightest humorists in the bay area right now, and it is the best room for comedy in the city. Aparna Nancherla, Jay Weingarten, Allison Stevenson, George Chen and Ahamed Weinberg make a great line up, and this will be a really fun night out!

Otis featuring Freddie Hughes at The Chapel
Otis is a Stax tribute band. That, by itself, if the band is tight would be a really fun show. However, fronting the band this night is legendary Bay Area soul singer Freddie Hughes. A man that turned out dozens of 45’s in the early 60’s. So this is more than a tribute band- this is the real deal.

The National, Portugal. The Man at The Greek Theater – UC Berkeley
The National put on one of the best live shows in indie rock. Lead singer Matt Berninger seems like a mellow guy, until the point in the set where he goes absolutely insane. Both portions of the set are way better than staying home and watching The Simpsons try to remain relevant.
Monday, April 28th
Franz Ferdinand, Cate Le Bon at The Fox Theater – Oakland
The early 00’s had some really terrible music. It also brought our some pretty amazing bands, with Franz Ferdinand being one of the best. This quartet from Scotland have figured out how to do the perfect rock n roll dance party, and you will leave this show coated in sweat.

Thao & The Get Down Stay Down at The Castro Theater
Thao released one of the best records on 2014- a serious record about a woman on death row. Because we all need balance, tonight she will be bringing her amazing band to do live score for a handful of classic silent comedies from the 20’s. This is one of those once in a lifetime shows, and if it’s even 1/10th as good as the time Merrill Garbus (the woman that produced the record Thao & Mirah) did one of these, you know it will be amazing.

Higgins Waterproof Black Magic Band, Tara Jane O’Neil at The Independent
With TV On The Radio taking their time on releasing a follow up to Nine Types Of Light, frontman Tunde Adebimpe has put together a new band pushes sonic boundaries even further than this already experimental main band. Plus, how often will you get to hear this amazing voice in such a small room.
