It’s a short list this week so you can enjoy your loved ones this holiday!

Thursday, December 20th & Friday, December 21st

Murder City Devils, Street Eaters, The Mallard at Slim’s

Although still not an “active” band, Murder City Devils seem to happy to come visit us about once every 18 months. It’s kind of a nice perk from living in the bay area, since whenever they come to town, the gigs are all monsters. They’ve been playing a handful of new songs, too, that are just as dark and heavy as the classics. This is going to be a killer gig, and I highly recommend it.

Thursday, December 20th

Thee Oh Sees, Mallard, Blasted Canyons, Warm Soda at The Chapel

This is a benefit for the Coalition On Homelessness. And it will be awesome. (Vid is NSFW)

Friday, December 21st – Sunday, December 23rd

Tony! Toni! Tone`! at Yoshi’s – Oakland

Yeah, I know that Raphael Saadiq won’t be there. Nonetheless, these guys put out three great records in the 90’s, all of which were amazing pieces of retro soul that still sound fresh today! The remaining members will play these classic tracks and do them great justice. Don’t miss this show!

Saturday, December 22nd

Bootsy Collins and The Funk Unity Band, DJ Motion Potion at The Independent

This dude is larger than life. This guy played with both James Brown and George Clinton, during the classic eras of both bands. He also developed his own language, both musically and verbally. It’s not often that we get legends like this in a place this small. So give yourself a nice Christmas gift and go to this show!

Sunday, December 23rd – Wednesday, December 26th

This year, it seems, many venues are taking a much deserved break for the holidays. So, I suggest you take a break, too… Be back soon with our New Year’s Eve previews!
