I hate to admit it, but LA has some really good stuff happening right now. Not many people up here know The Happy Hollows yet, but that is going to change soon. They do an updated version of the Siouxsie & The Banshees sound: a nice mix of bright and dark that’s perfectly danceable, and all colored by the unique vocal styling of Sarah Negahdari.

Michael Buble at Oracle Arena
Michael Buble gets a bad rap. Primarily because his fan base is a little older; a little PBS. However, he is significantly more interesting than the Celtic Women or Il Divo. He is the essence of cool, and- dare I say it- might actually be up there with Tony Bennett and Frank Sinatra in terms of “cool” factor.

Cat Power has had one turbulent year, dealing with both physical and mental illness, as well as financial distress. As much as I wouldn’t want to wish her year on anyone, I’m sure it will lead to a heartfelt and intense performance. It’s been quite a few years since Chan Marshall has done a solo tour, so this is a very special event.

This is a pretty spectacular triple bill! Cate Le Bon is one of the best and brightest singer songwriters out there, doing an excellent brand of psych pop that will fill your ears with joy. We also have Kevin Morby of The Babys and Karina Denike of Dance Hall Crashers supporting, so there will be all sorts of joyful noise coming from Rickshaw tonight!
