Spinning Platters Weekly Guide to Bay Area Concerts, 11/26/2010-12/01/2010

No, it's not Easter, but we've got a Zombie Jesus band playing, so I thought that I'd run with this.

Happy Black Friday, ladies & gentlemen! I was very busy yesterday, and fell alseep while trying to compile this list for Thursday, so I apologize if my lack of  guidance made Thanksgiving horrible. Please enjoy these tips, instead, and we will be back next week on schedule!

Friday, November 26th

Turkey Trot 2010 Americana Music Festival with The Goodluck Thriftstore Outfit, Misisipi Rider, Hang Jones, Walking in Sunlight and Blue Ribbon Healers at Cafe du Nord

Once your belly is full of Turkey, or Tofurkey for those who don’t eat creatures with eyes, you can continue your celebration of American culture with an evening of indie-folk, country, hillbilly jazz and bluegrass music. Make sure to come early and see the fabulous Walking in Sunlight.  With their sweet harmonies and sweeter melodies it will be sure to sooth the beast that is your bloated stomach. [Marie Carney]

The Black Angels, Black Mountain at The Fillmore

Califia, Zombie Jesus & The Chocolate Sunshine Band at Kimo’s

I don’t actually know anything about this band, but I really like the name of the opener, so it’s going on the list.

Saturday, November 27th

Yard Dogs Road Show w/ The Wheel of Destiny w/ Molotov (no, really), Trapeze w/ High Flying Abigail (Circus Bella), El Radio Fantastique, DJ Shawna (El Circo), Hosted by Scotty the Blue Bunny at The Independent

There are few bands as indescribable as Yard Dogs Road Show. They are essentially a traveling variety show, along the lines of burlesque or vaudville, but still it’s own thing. This show will be wacky and fun, and you should go to it because we said so!

Sassy, Burnt House, Times Infinity at Hemlock Tavern

The Queers, The Riptides, Kepi Ghoulie, The Custom Kicks at Bottom Of The Hill

Sunday, November 28th

Dimmu Borgir, Enslaved, Blood Red Throne, Dawn Of The Ashes at The Regency Ballroom

What better way to end your 4 day weekend, then to mourn it’s ending with some Norwegian black metal? You can both work of the turkey, and the anger of going back to work on Monday.

Lucero, Drag The River at Great American Music Hall

Monday, November 29th

Grinderman. Armen Ra at The Warfield

Nick Cave is a genius, and although Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds are great, his Grinderman project is bloody insane. It’s stripped down and so fierce your teeth will hurt.

Weezer do The Blue Album at Nob Hill Masonic

Tuesday, November 30th

Os Mutantes, Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti, Teen Inc at The Regency Ballroom

Ariel Pink does art rock with enough sexy swagger for you to forget it’s nerdy. Os Mutantes are a killer band from Brazil that have been around since the beginning of time, and are considered a psychadelic band, but are actually doing something that I call “blister-nova.”

Weezer do Pinkerton at Nob Hill Masonic

Wednesday, December 1st

Rad Cloud, Sparrow’s Gate at Cafe van Cleef

Gaucho at Amnesia
