She still sounds and looks amazing, and is currently touring a brand new record filled with 60’s inspired jangle pop that is strong enough to stand up to her classic material. The Misfits, The Attack at Oakland Metro Operahouse
Earlier this year, Glenn Danzig played The Warfield with Doyle von Frankenstein in tow. It was terrible- Doyle’s guitar wasn’t even turned on. They were sloppy, and the whole show was a mess. Instead, I highly recommend seeing Jerry Only’s version of the band, which is a fun set of Misfits and Black Flag (Dez Cadena of Black Flag is on guitar) songs done right.

Wilson Phillips at Davies Symphony Hall
Yes, you read it here. Wilson Phillips are playing in San Francisco. Their sugary harmonies and truckload of hits are waiting for you. They also rarely tour, so this is a really special event. And, with tickets starting at $15, you really have no excuse. Trust me- you want to go to this.

Ms Lauryn Hill at The Independent
She put out one of the best records of the 90’s. Then she spent the better part of the last 15 years in obscurity, playing erratic gigs where she shows up late and oft times incoherent. Well, last year she burst back onto the scene with a new lease on life. She sounds great, as spectacular energy, and has really brought back her live performance game. We also have the thrill of seeing her in such an intimate space. Highly recommended.

This Welsh rock trio play a glorious dance rock hybrid that is always fun to experience live. The Chapel is a brand new venue in the Mission, which means you get delicious cheap burritos and a great show all on the same block. This one is a no brainer.

This Chilean MC is one of the most inventive rappers in the business. Her ferocity and social consciousness is hard to ignore in any language, and this show promises to be an epic one. Her record, 1977, is going to grace everybody’s year end list, too… So be sure to see her now so you can say that you saw her “back then.”
