Thursday, October 27th
Anvil, Papa Wheelie (featuring Jason Newsted of Metallica) at Red Devil Lounge
The most fascinating thing about Anvil is that their success comes only from the fascination with our un-successful they were. A few years ago, a popular documentary was released, tracing the history of this band that continues to play, and is now actually able to draw crowds in clubs around America. They are bringing along Papa Wheelie, which features estranged Metallica bassist Jason Newsted. I don’t know what they will be like.

Of course, your metal options are a-plenty today. If you don’t like it in a sweaty nightclub, how about metal lords Judas Priest on their farewell tour outdoors? That sounds pretty good, too, huh?

Webley is a SpinningPlatters favorite. You haven’t lived until you’ve seen this one man accordion wielding vaudeville act. You never know what to expect from him, but since tonight is a Halloween show, expect all kinds of insanity.

Their has been a hug, gaping hole in the world since Fastbacks broke up. Many have wept. This is the band that the original Noise Pop festival was based around, and one of Eddie Vedder’s favorite bands. This show will blow your mind. Literally.

Well, it looks like you have two options when your tv show The L Word gets canceled. Either you get kicked off a plane for showing some affection towards your same sex lover, and you go on tour to raise money to fight breast cancer. I believe both have credibility.
