Spinning Platters Picks Six Interesting Cover Versions from YouTube

Keep that furniture clean!

A rather quirky habit of mine is to search through youtube looking for cover songs. I love to watch amateurs do covers of my favorite songs and I love to watch my favorite bands doing their versions of interesting tunes. I have to say there are some really good amateur performances out there but this list focuses on the pro’s. My biggest problem here was keeping this list down to six, but here we go

The Noisette’s: “When We Were Young”
One of my favorite songs from The Killers done by one of my favorite new bands. An excellent cover version with an interesting twist.

Bat For Lashes: “Use Somebody”
Another song I love taken for a different spin by Bat For Lashes, turning a Kings Of Leon anthem into a touching, heartbreaking version.

All American Rejects: “Womanizer”
There are a lot of covers of Brintey Spears’ Womanizer out there, this is one of the best produced.

Travis: “I Kissed a Girl”
A live one, perhaps too easy but clearly they were having fun with this Katy Perry tune.

The Killers: “Romeo and Juliet”
For reasons hard to explain I’ve always had a soft spot for this song from my youth. There’s a line or two in here that makes me fill with emotion every time I hear it. Dire Straits were great in their time but now it’s time for The Killers. Search out The Killers cover of Bright Eye’s Four Winds if you want to hear what almost made the list.

Lizzie Marie: “Sex On Fire’
Another Kings of Leon tune given an interesting twist.
