Reseñar de concierto: Paulina Rubio en teatro de Fox – Oakland, 9/26/09

Una de las mejores cosas sobre viviendo en los Estados Unidos es el hecho que todos quieren ser el crossover aquí. Esto significa que conseguimos a las estrellas arena-clasificadas de los países extranjeros que aquí tocan pequeños lugares a las pequeñas audiencias. Incluso si usted no conoce el trabajo del artista, todavía recomiendo enteramente ver uno de estos conciertos. One of the greatest things about living in America is the fact that everyone wants to crossover here. This means that we often get arena-sized stars from foreign countries playing small venues to small audiences here. Even if you are unfamiliar with the artist’s work, I still wholly recommend seeing one of these shows. It’s a pretty amazing experience to get a big spectacle in a small place.

Paulina Rubio es una tal estrella. Ella era un miembro original de Timbiriche, un grupo de pop hecho de niños, relacionado con una versión de Kids Incorporated que realizaron el material principalmente original. (El grupo también frezó la carrera de la cantante Mexicana/estrella de telenovelas/esposa de Tommy Mottola, Thalia.) Paulina Rubio is one such star. She was an original member of Timbiriche, a pop group made of children, akin to a version of Kids Incorporated that performed primarly original material. (The group also spawned the career of Mexican pop singer/soap star/Mrs. Tommy Mottola, Thalia.) She left the group in 1991 to start a solo career, and her debut solo album was a huge success straight out of the box.

Después de varios años de éxito en Latino América y Europa, en 2002 su compañía discográfica la persuadió de grabar un álbum de canciones en Ingles, sobre todo para seguir el éxito de albums similares de Enrique Iglesias, Shakira, y Ricky Martin. Aunque su sencillo, “Don’t Say Goodbye,” recibió una cantidad justa de juego en MTV, el sencillo sí mismo no rompió los Estados Unidos Top 40 (lo mas alto fue 41!). Lo que es mas, el álbum cementado su estado al exterior, pero ella nunca se convirtió en la clase de estrella que ella está al exterior.

After several years of success in Latin America and Europe, her record label persuaded her to record an album of English language songs in 2002, primarily to piggy back on the success of similar records from Enrique Iglesias, Shakira, and Ricky Martin. Although her single, “Don’t Say Goodbye,” received a fair amount of play on MTV, the single itself didn’t break the US top 40 (peaking at 41). The record further cemented her status abroad, but she never became the kind of star she is elsewhere.

Ahora a 2009. Ella lanzó el álbum Gran City Pop, y vende 10.000 copias en su primera semana, y va rápidamente oro, algo que pocos músicos logran actualmente, aún menos un cantante que su ultimo empuje promocionar importante era hace siete años. Fast-forward to 2009. She released the record Gran City Pop, and it sells 10,000 copies in its first week and quickly goes gold, a feat that few musicians accomplish these days, let alone a singer whose last major promotional push was seven years prior. This prompted her to embark on a rare North American tour, bringing her to the Fox Theater in Oakland on a warm September Saturday night.

La mezcla de el publico no era diferente que qué usted encontraría en cualquier otro concierto de pop-diva. Era una mezcla agradable de mujeres y los hombres gay vestidos en su ropa de club más atractivo, un manojo de chicas jóvenes en camisetas de Paulina Rubio y caras pintadas, y muchas parejas donde el hombre parecía molestado, mientras que su novia no podría contener su entusiasmo. The crowd mix was no different than what you would find at any other pop diva show. It was a nice mix of women and gay men dressed in their sexiest club gear, a bunch of young girls wearing Paulina Rubio t-shirts and face paint, and a lot of couples where the guy seemed kind of annoyed, while their girlfriend couldn’t contain their excitement. The crowd was so excited about the show that you could have powered the lighting with nothing but their energy.

El escenario era una de las cosas más magníficas que he visto adentro en un concierto de pop en un teatro. El telón do fondo fue hecho enteramente de viejos Cds y ruedas de bicicleta, dándonos el concierto más brillante que he visto. Habría sido inteligente usar lentes de sol:

The staging was one of the most magnificent things I have ever seen in at a pop show in a theater. The back drop was made entirely of old CD’s and bicycle tires, giving us the shiniest show I have ever seen. It would have been smart to wear sunglasses:

Su grupo era sólido. Ella tenía un teclista, un baterísta, un guitarrista, y un bajista. Podían dar un sonido increíblemente ecléctico, que se extendió de música pop puro, de rock’n’roll, y ocasional la ranchera. Ella también tenía dos cantantes/bailarines de reserva que se movieron con precisión y fluidez.

Her band was solid. She had a keyboardist, a drummer, a guitarist, and a bassist. They were able to handle an incredibly eclectic set, which ranged from pure pop music, hooky rock ‘n roll, and the occasional nod to the ranchera sound. She also had two back up singers/dancers that moved with precision and fluidity.

Rubio misma es una fuerza poderosa en la escenario. Ella dedica la audiencia la manera que debe un estrella del pop, dando todas las partes del escenario igual tiempo, y manejando hacer el espectáculo sentir enorme y íntimo simultáneamente. Ella entiende cómo ser coqueta y atractiva, pero nunca salió vulgar.

Rubio herself is a mighty force on the stage. She worked the room the way a pop star should, giving all parts of the stage equal face time, and managed to make the show feel huge and intimate simultaneously. She understand how to be flirtatious and sexy, yet never came off vulgar.

Ella también tiene una gran actitud sobre sus fans. Mucho tiempo cuando vas a un concierto, fans lanzarán regalos a la etapa, y un roadie los agarra y los lleva a la parte posterior. Rubio cogió todo ella misma, e hizo un esfuerzo gracioso para reconocer esto. En un punto en el espectáculo un fan manejó saltar a la etapa, su escolta agarró al individuo y lo quitó de la etapa. Rubio, con su micrófono sin cuerda a disposición, no faltando una nota de la canción, seguida su escolta a la parte posterior, y salió con el mismo fan. Ella acabó la canción cantándola directamente al fan, bailando con él, y termino la canción dándole un beso enorme en la boca. (Nota: Muy raramente este acto le traen a este resultado. No intente esto en los espectáculos futuros.) Cuando el fan volvió al publico, él manejó conseguir high-fives por cada persona en su vecindad. Le hablé por algunos momentos, y estaba claro que este acto no fue efectuado.

She also has a great attitude about her fans. Often times when you go to a show, fans will throw gifts on the stage, and a roadie will grab them and take them to the back. Rubio picked up everything herself, and made a gracious effort to acknowledge this. At one point in the show a fan managed to jump on to the stage, and her bodyguard and some security grabbed the guy and pulled him off stage. Rubio, with her cordless mic in hand, not missing a note of the song, followed her bodyguard to the back, and came out with the stage jumper. She finished the song by singing it directly to the fan, as well as dancing with him, and closed the song by giving him a huge kiss on the mouth. (Note: Very rarely does this act bring you to this result. Do not try this at future shows.) When the fan went back to the crowd, he managed to get high-fived by every person in his vicinity. I spoke to him for a few moments, and it was clear to me that this act was not staged.

El concierto duro casi exactamente dos horas, pasando el regular concierto de pop por cerca de 30 minutos. Ella guardó sus canciones en ingles a un mínimo, e hizo lo que ella hizo mejor, que no requirió ninguna traducción (no como esta revisión).

Her set ran almost exactly two hours long, besting your average pop show by about 30 minutes. She kept her English language songs to a bare minimum, and did what she did best, which required no translation.
