Garfunkel & Oates’ Riki Lindhome Announces Debut Solo Album

It’s been nine long, arduous years since the amazing Garfunkel & Oates’s last record, and their brilliant TV series did the “fade away” far too early. And Oates, aka Kate Micucci, has been bringing us TONS of great music, including last year’s best children’s album, My Hat. But Garfunkel? Ms Riki Lindhome? She hasn’t been silent, as she’s had a hit series and has gotten plenty of acting and writing work. But she’s finally putting out music again! And on March 14th, she’s releasing an album with the single most relatable title ever: No Worries If Not. And I am very excited.

Preorder links are not ready yet, but you really should follow her on Spotify to keep in the loop. In the meantime, indulge in the brilliance of the first three singles below: Continue reading “Garfunkel & Oates’ Riki Lindhome Announces Debut Solo Album”

There are a few things that you can depend on with Sketchfest every year. We always get w0otstock. We always get a Nerdist Podcast. There is always something featuring a former member of The State. All of those things sell out. One show that they invite back every year that somehow never sells out is Bring The Rock. The premise is super simple- a comedian talks about music. Then Greg Behrendt’s surf rock band The Reigning Monarchs covers a song with the comic singing lead. On paper, this sounds amusing. In reality, it’s the perfect love letter to both humor and rock n roll.

SF Sketchfest Review: Garfunkel & Oates, Dragon Boy Suede at Rickshaw Stop, 2/10/13

Garfunkel & Oates have played Sketchfest twice before. In 2011, they were part of Chris Hardwick’s (No Relation) Music Night as one of several acts performing. In 2012, they opened for the great Reggie Watts at Mezzanine. Tonight, however, we got to experience them play their own headlining set. It meant that every single person in the crowd was their just for G & O. And, considering this show sold out several weeks in advance, it only proved that the good folks of San Francisco were quite thirsty to see these wonderful woman play a full set.

10 Quick Questions: an Interview with Garfunkel & Oates

Garfunkel+and+Oates

Garfunkel & Oates are Riki Lindhome and Kate Miccuci. On their own, they are both well respected actresses, musicians, and writers. Of course, when they work together, it’s pure magic. No matter who you are, somebody has posted one of their videos on your Facebook wall. They are bringing their live show to Rickshaw Stop on Saturday, February 10th to close out this year’s installment of Sketchfest. We had a few moments to talk to both Garfunkel and Oates. Since you weren’t there with me, I’ll let you read about it:

Sketchfest Review: Reggie Watts, Garfunkel & Oates at Mezzanine, 2/1/12

Singin' and Dancin' (All Photos by Marie Carney)

Some of the most talented people on earth hail from right here in the San Francisco Bay Area. In fact, we have so many uber-talented musicians, writers, comics, speakers, artists, chefs, and so on, that it’s easy to take them for granted. Reggie Watts is one of those performers. He seems to be performing all the time, and everyone in the bay area seems to swoon over him. Yet, I have yet to see him. It could be due to the fact that every show sells out, no matter what the venue. Which is also how Sketchfest was able to book him four nights in a row, also giving him the ability to indulge in whatever he pleases.
