Single of the Week: “BLEACH” by Ecca Vandal

Yup. This is Ecca Vandal’s second single of the week appearance in less than a year. AND STILL NO ALBUM NEWS!??!?! AND STILL NO BAY AREA DATE?!?!?!?!?! “BLEACH” is a little less metal yet, somehow a lot heavier and harder. Ecca Vandal is the reigning queen of industrial music, keeping it chaotic, dark, and weird. And that lofi, pre-rock piano breakdown at the 2:30 mark before it turns into a rap song? CHILLS!

You can access “BLEACH” via all the usual places. NOW MAKE HER FINISH THAT RECORD SO SHE CAN COME TO OAKLAND! WE WILL MOSH FOR HER!!!

Single of the Week: “MOLLY” by Ecca Vandal

The best thing about the current nu-metal resurgence seems to be that, unlike the first time around, ownership isn’t focused on white men. Some of the best stuff coming out these days that sounds like that era is coming from women of color- I adore The Warning, Pinkshift, and Rico Nasty. But the one act that’s consistently the BEST at combining metal, punk, hip-hop, pop, funk, and whatever else she pleases? Ecca Vandal. And, hot off her heavily talked about set at Dia De Los Deftones and as a warm-up for her performance at Camp Flog Gnaw this weekend, she’s presented us with her strongest track yet. “MOLLY” is a brilliant single that works equally well in the mosh pit and the club.

You can enjoy “MOLLY” in all the usual places, and I’m hoping for a full-length next year. She’s touring Mexico and South America with Limp Bizkit in December, and I’m hoping we finally get a full stateside tour when she makes her Coachella debut next April.

Single of the Week: “CRUISING TO SELF SOOTHE” by Ecca Vandal

The guttural growl that opens this track rattled me to my core. Ecca Vandal has the perfect rock ‘n’roll voice—a melodic rasp that perfectly pairs with meaty, drop-D guitar riffage and weirdly catchy drums. This is the sound of Summer—sweaty and mosh-ready joy in the face of impending doom. It is a reminder that Australia keeps importing some of the best rock ‘n’roll around.

“CRUISING TO SELF SOOTHE” can be enjoyed in all the usual places. 2025 is just starting to heat up for Ecca Vandal, and it’s worth following her on the socials to watch when she decides to destroy America.
