Cody ChestnuTT at Yoshi’s – SF
In 2002, Cody ChesnuTT released The Headphone Masterpiece. It was a genius record- lofi home recordings that fused together R&B, Classic Funk, pure Rock & Roll, and Ween/TMBG influenced humor. He’s spent the last 10 years distancing himself from the music business, but he has returned, and he’s using Kickstarter to fund his follow up. This artist is a truly unique specimen, and his live show is definitely one to make it a point of. Especially since it could be another decade before we see him again!

Booker T Jones at Yoshi’s – SF
Booker T Jones is one of the most influential musicians in the history of rock. His signature organ style and classy funk played a major role in creating the sound of bands such as The Rolling Stones, The Faces, Drive By Truckers and My Morning Jacket. He removed the church organ from the chapel, and placed it in the nightclub where it belongs. And, it 67 years old, he’s still putting out new music, putting out albums with Drive By Truckers and The Roots as his back up bands, and still plays with the vigor of a man half his age.

This woman has one of the most chilling voices in popular music. The Vortex Room is a psychedelic speakeasy hiding in SOMA, so this show is like a buried treasure whose rewards will be great if you take the time & effort out to find it. Please note: The address to this venue is 1082 Howard St, near Howard. It has no marquee at all, and the cover is a low $10, so, seriously, go to this show.
