San Francisco’s Tussle are by far and away one of the greatest things the Bay Area has to offer. They do a frantic dance punk that’s inventive and always a good show. The percussionists are worth the $5 alone!

Pavement, Quasi at The Greek Theater – UC Berkeley
Yeah, it’s Pavement, one of the most overrated bands of the alternative rock era. That’s not why you are going to this show. You are going to see Quasi, because they are one of the most underrated bands out there. Yes, they are kind of a super group, featuring pieces of Sleater-Kinney and Heatmiser, but they are quite a force to be reckoned with live. Janet Weiss is one of the greatest drummers in rock history, and this fusion of experimental piano jazz, indie rock, and potent singer-songwriter emotion was meant to be heard in the beautiful and acoustically perfect Greek Theater.

Goldfrapp, Kool Karlo at The Fox – Oakland
Goldfrapp started out as just another trip hop group from the UK. But, as time progressed, they have managed to change up their sound with each record, doing everything from electroclash to acoustic folk. There most recent record was there riskiest move yet! They managed to pull off a classic bubble gum pop album, and managed to make it more than good, but a fabulously fun record that’s perfect for summer.

San Francisco Gay Pride Parade & Celebration at SF Civic Center & Beyond
Yeah, I do call bullshit on the inclusion of the Backstreet Boys, and group of straight men that sing very hetero-centric songs directed directly at women. But, after you get past that, it’s still the greatest party the city throws! The mainstage has other greats such as the amazing Andy Bell, promoting his first solo record (Produced by Perry Farrell!), The Motels, and Sistas In Da Pit. Plus, it’s always fun to buy booze outdoors in front of city hall.
