Huichica Music Festival at Gundlach Bundschu Winery – Sonoma

Gundlach Bundschu is one of the most beautiful properties in Northern California. This festival, which takes place over Friday evening and all day Saturday, outdoors, over looking the Bay Area in the middle of one of the tastiest wineries I’ve had the privilege to taste the product of. However, with Blitzen Trapper, Fruit Brats, Cass McCombs, Jessica Pratt, and much, much more, you don’t need to be drinking wine to enjoy the music. However, you will need to BBQ Duck Tacos, which will also be served.

Friday, June 14th

They Might Be Giants, Moon Hooch at The Warfield

Remember that moment when you were a kid, and you were watching Tiny Toon Adventures and you heard “Particle Man” for the first time and decided that it was the best song ever? So you found out who did it and bought Flood and determined that the whole record was amazing. And then you learned that every record was amazing. The best thing? They are still making amazing records and also put on one of the best live shows around.

Pitbull, Ke$ha at Shoreline Amphitheater

Saturday, June 15th

The Thermals, Audacity, Victory & Associates at The New Parish

You like rock n roll? Especially when it’s especially blistering, infectious, and groovy? Like a show that will leave you dripping with sweat? This is that show.

Conspiracy Of Beards at [freespace]

Conspiracy Of Beards is a formally dressed choir of around thirty men singing the songs of Leonard Cohen without accompaniment. Their sonorous sound is what you might hope the inside of your heart sounds like at any given point, especially when you’re older. When these gentlemen sing these songs, they fill everything within earshot with reverence for what humanity is capable of.

This week, they’ll be singing in a pop-up community center as they end their 2013 touring season. {Christopher Rogers}

The Dandy Warhols, The Shivas at The Fillmore

Sunday, June 16th

Thao Nguyen, Eleanor Friedberger, Greil Marcus at Public Works

Greil Marcus is one of the most respected rock critics in the history of the craft. Tonight at Public Works he will be discussing the works of Buddy Holly, and we will also be getting musical performances by Thao Nguyen and Eleaner Friedberger, doing their favorite Buddy Holly songs, as well as their own works!

Fall Out Boy, New Politics at The Fox Theater – Oakland

Monday, June 17th

CSS, Ms Mr, io echo at Great American Music Hall

It’s been a number of years since CSS’ punked up electro has been on our radar. We’ve missed one of the best bands from Brazil dearly, and these support bands will make this an amazing evening.

Tuesday, June 18th

John Grant, Craig Wedren at The Chapel

Wednesday, June 19th

Geto Boys, Phrancyze at Yoshi’s – San Francisco

NWA may have been the biggest group of the gangsta rap movement, but few groups from that era put out music as consistently chilling as Geto Boys. This is the first time the original three: Scarface, Bushwick Bill, and Willie D have toured together in over a decade, playing the ultra intimate Yoshi’s in San Francisco. This show is of epic, historical proportions.

Camera Obscura, Photo Ops at The Regency Ballroom
