In case you were keeping track, we are about to kick off our first week of Fauxchella. So, starting Sunday I want you to enjoy the finest music festival that doesn’t actually exist, and we will have some warm up shows listed below, in addition to a few Fauxchella recommendations.
Wednesday, April 7th
RJD2, Busdriver, Happy Chichester at The Independent, 9 pm
Sometimes, even the most powerful music bloggers get stuck outside of a show, and there is a chance this might be one of those. But, if you were lucky enough to score tickets, or skilled enough to talk your way in, you will experience some impressive beat making by one of the greatest in electronic music history. I think we might be bribing a door man or two…

Thursday, April 8th
Murder By Death, Ha Ha Tonka, Linfinity at Slim’s, 8 PM
Once upon a time, Vagrant Records was only releasing cookie-cutter sound alike emo bands. Then, one day, they decided to switch it up and become one of the most interesting labels out there. I think the turning point was Murder By Death, a very dark and melancholy project that covers far more emotional ground than any “emo” band. Intense and pure, with a touch of cello.

Friday, April 9th
Miko Marks, Andre Thierry at Slim’s, 8 PM
I found this woman via Google searches concerning the break up of LA punk geniuses Mika Miko. I decided that it might be worth my 30 seconds to check out a similarly named artist, for no good reason. What a found was some really good classic country music, surprisingly created by a woman from San Francisco. Despite having the best Americana/Roots music festival in the world, we don’t have enough great musicians coming up in the genre, and I would gladly support this woman in the same way local country station 95.7 The Wolf seems to be.

Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy & The Cairo Gang at The New Parish
Another show where the only way to get in is through the ventilation system.
Saturday, April 10th
The Black Keys, NERD, Common, Les Claypool, The Glitch Mob, Hamsa Lila, Q-Bert, and a whole lot more at NASA Ames Research Center in Mountain View, 12 pm – 12 am
This crazy little secret music festival happening in the South Bay looks like it might be the event of the year. Not many people know about it, so you should go and tell all your friends later about how awesome it was, and they will all get really angry about not going. I mean, it’s THE BLACK KEYS and N*E*R*D PLAYING NASA! How could that not be awesome?!?!
