An Evening With Ms Lauryn Hill at The Warfield
Ms Lauryn Hill has spent well over a decade trying to distance herself from her solo debut, The Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill. She refused to play these songs live, when through a period where she would only play folk music, and then spent a number of years doing shows of varying consistency, often times showing up late, seemingly unfocused out doing very sloppy shows. And then, roughly one year ago, she managed to get her groove back. She played an energetic set of hits last year at Mezzanine as well as a killer set headlining the Rock The Bells festival. Tonight at the Warfield, she will be playing Miseducation… in it’s entirety.

There are literally one million groups that cover pop songs and post them on YouTube. And a lot of them are really good. But none of them are as great as Pomplamoose. It might be their incredible chops, or their adorable videos. Or, it could the fact that they can compose on their own, as well. Any which way, live shows are especially rare from this group, so you better spend your Saturday night at the Great American Music Hall.

Persephone’s Bees, Christina Courtin at Cafe du Nord
This garage rock quartet has survived getting signed by a major, being licensed to a series of romantic comedies, then getting dropped by the major before they got to put out a record. These types of stressers can killer a weaker band. It’s a good thing that this band isn’t a weak band.

The Darkness, Foxy Shazam at The Fillmore
Coachella doesn’t have all the reunions this year. Bypassing the desert is the long awaited comeback tour by the UK’s glam rock comeback heroes The Darkness. Opening the show is theatrical rockers Foxy Shazam, who put on one of the finest live shows in rock.
