Opening for Pink at HP Pavilion
Opening for Pink at HP Pavilion

We’ve got a really fun week for shows! Not only do you have some fine Valentine’s Day options, but you also still have two more days to enter our Hives Prize Pack contest before they play in San Jose with Pink!

Thursday, February 14th

ZZ Ward, Delta Rae, Martin Hayley at Great American Music Hall

ZZ Ward’s angsty, hyped up blues might not be the most romantic way to spend your Valentine’s Day. In fact, this might be the best show to go to if you need to blow of some lonely hearted steam.

Red Baraat, Sun Hop Fat at Slim’s

Friday, February 15th

Tijuana No!, The ZigZags at Elbo Room

Mexico’s legendary political ska punk band has been mostly silent since founder Luis Guerena passed away in 2002. Tonight’s gig is a very rare appearance by this ground breaking band. I don’t think they’ve played San Francisco in over a decade, so it’s well worth your time and evening to make your way out to the mission and get skanking like it’s 1998!

Beak> at Amoeba Music – Berkeley

Saturday, February 16th

The Eels, Nicole Atkins at The Fillmore

The Eels are one of those great one hit wonders of the 90’s that managed to get out by reinventing themselves as simply great musicians after the alternative rock era ended- consistently putting out interesting and diverse records of introspective pop music. Nicole Atkins is a singer songwriter with the kind of voice that will melt the coldest of hearts. Together we have one of the most wonderful and weepiest double bills of the Winter!

The Dollyrots, Daikon, Andalusia Rose at Thee Parkside

Sunday, February 17th

An Evening with Mark Kozelek at Great American Music Hall

Monday, February 18th

Pink, The Hives at HP Pavilion – San Jose

It takes a lot of guts to ask the greatest living rock & roll band (The Hives, duh!) to open for you, especially as a pop star. However, few popstars have the performance chops that Pink has. This woman is the real thing- she can sing, she can dance, and she might even try some acrobatics on for size! There is nothing this woman can’t do, even when faced with 5 Swedes.

Tuesday, February 19th – Wednesday, February 20th

Victor Wooten at Yoshi’s – Oakland

You remember in Orgazmo when the one guy kept calling Geddy Lee the best bassist ever? He was wrong. It’s Victor Wooten.
