You know who this guy is. You just may have forgotten about him. He is on of San Francisco’s favorite sons: the man with the voice of Roy Orbison and thick enough skin to surf in Ocean Beach. He is one of the greatest performers of all time, and you should only be so lucky as to get to see him in one of the nicest places in SF.

Carly Rae Jepsen is a 27 year old singer songwriter from Canada. Psy is a 34 year old rapper from South Korea. These two artists did the two biggest singles of 2012, proving that you don’t need to be a teenager to chart as a newcomer. This show, put on by 99.7 [NOW], the first successful top 40 station in the bay area in my lifetime, promises to be a blissful evening of ear worms that will keep you dancing like a horse while you try to call your crush for weeks afterwards. Genesis P-Orridge was, sadly, ejected from Throbbing Gristle recently. So, instead, he’s resurrecting the “other” band to play a very special, very intimate at Oakland’s Uptown Nightclub. Although still from that world of industrial experimentation, Psychic TV are just a touch accessible, and, lord help us, you might even be able to do some “dancing” at this gig!

Barrington Levy may not be be as highly regarded as Toots Hibbert, Jimmy Cliff, or Bob Marley, he is still a legend. His music has spanned many, many generations, and continues to be highly influential. The New Parish is a nice and tiny place to see a man that is much, much bigger than this room.

Dee Dee and Brandon play the music of Dum Dum Girls and The Crocodiles, Gio + Stef (Young Prisms) at Rickshaw Stop
This show is kind of an exciting surprise. Dee Dee and Brandon are an indie rock super couple, fronting The Dum Dum Girls and The Crocodiles, respectively. They will be playing stripped down versions of both bands music, completely with (hopefully) a lot of adoring looks at each other, showing how madly in love these two are with each other.

The Weeknd, Nosaj Thing at The Warfield
The Weeknd came out with a huge amount of hype earlier this year. Happily, his dark, bordering on claustrophobic, blend of chillwave and mainstream R & B is as good as the hype implies. This is the sexiest show of the week, and might be the best place to cuddle with a loved one during these cold winter days.
