Cults, Sacco, Mood Rings at The Fillmore
Not to be confused with “The Cult”, who played this same room earlier this year. Cults are an amazing dark pop band that will definitely put on a great show. And the cover of “She Sells Sanctuary” that I am imagining them do is amazing. I think they should do that someday.

Thursday, November 14th
KMFDM, Chant at The Independent
KMFDM were the clown princes of the 90’s industrial movement. The genre is far too stuffy and serious, so when KMFDM came out with their tongues planted firmly in their cheeks, it was a breath of fresh air. Happily, they are still touring, and seeing them at an intimate spot like The Indy is a funtastic place to see them.

Jello Biafra & The Guantanamo School Of Medicine, Mojo Nixon, Death Hymns #9, Pins Of Light at Slim’s
Seeing Jello Biafra is always a treat in any situation. Even more exciting, however, is the legendary Mojo Nixon is making a very rare public appearance. For $18, this show is a total steal.

Saturday, November 16th
Melt-Banana, Retox at Oakland Metro Operahouse
Japan’s Melt-Banana helped invent both grindcore and spazz. They’ve been around for 20 years, however they are doing something very special this tour. They are touring as only the core duo: singer Yasuko Onuki and guitarist Ichirou Agata. No live drummer or bassist, therefore they are able to play at much quicker speeds, as a computer will be playing drums. This will be the single most brutal show in town.

Yes, CHVRCHES are leading the 2013 most hyped band award. For some very, very good reasons. They might be the best synth pop group to come out since Erasure. This is an incredibly hot ticket, but if you can find one, you will have an amazing time!

Wire, Chastity Belt at Slim’s
November has already been a pretty ridiculous month for for highly influential, poor selling bands of the late 70’s. The mother of all of them is Wire, and to see them in a place as small as Slim’s is pretty much a once in a lifetime event, so don’t miss this.
The Misfits, The Attack at Oakland Metro Operahouse
Tuesday, November 19th
Screaming Females, Upset, Street Eaters at 1234 Go Records
Upset are a super group, fronted by Ali Koelher of The Vivian Girls with legendary Hole drummer Patty Schemel and that dog. bassist Rachel Haden. This is their first show outside of LA, and it should be good. Not as good as the blistering rock n roll of Screaming Females, one of the most ferocious live bands ever!
Green Day, Blondie at AT&T Park
Sure, it’s not a cheap ticket. And it’s a huge venue. However, if you can stomach $250 (it is a benefit for Children’s Hospital Of Oakland, which is a worthy place for your money), you’ll get to see Berkeley’s finest as well as one of the last remaining CBGB’s bands live. Not a bad deal…
