I’m going to start with the bad news. SF Sketchfest, also known as the most insane three weeks of live comedy programming in San Francisco, was due to celebrate it’s 20th year next January in an epic fashion. Well, you may have heard that at little thing called COVID-19 has ravaged the live entertainment world, due to the fact that having fun in large groups is about the fastest way to get it, alongside side church, gyms, and working in an office. So, it looks like we are going to have to wait a bit longer to enjoy whatever the good folks at SF Sketchfest will bring us. And, whenever that happens, we will DEFINITELY need to get together and laugh.
Now with the good news. First, SF Sketchfest regular and host of the Romane Event will be performing live at 3 Disciples Brewery in Santa Rosa tomorrow night. That’s Friday, September 18th. This is going to be an outdoor, mask required, socially distant show. Tickets are available here.
For those of us, like myself, that are still skittish about this type of thing. Or don’t drive, and are really afraid of taking public transit before this pandemic business is over, SF Sketchfest will begin presenting LIVE STREAMED EVENTS! Which means you can enjoy SF Sketchfest events from the comfort of your own home, without having to worry about a two drink minimum or getting kicked out because you lost count and kept drinking. The first of these will be just in time for Halloween, where Dana Gould presents a live table read of the camp horror classic, Plan 9 From Outer Space on October 29th at 6pm PST.
Gould will be joined by Maria Bamford, Bobcat Goldthwait, Dana Gould, David Koechner, Jonah Ray, Paul F. Tompkins, Janet Varney, Baron Vaughn and more, with musical accompaniment by Eban Schletter. Tickets are available here! A trailer can be seen here! In the meantime, you can also rent a slew of past events from the SF Sketchfest archives for only $2.99, and that group of shows can be found here!
