Pulp announce 30th Anniversary Edition of Different Class

I recall as a wee 15-year-old, listening to the radio. Live 105, which, as a teenager in the Bay Area, was your source for a rock n roll education. This was shortly before I discovered KZSU and KALX, as well as similar stations, which really opened my ears. Anyway, I heard a song. It was the most deliciously naughty song I’ve ever heard at the time. It was a song called “Underwear.” I was OBSESSED. I found out that an older friend had a CD called Different Class. He dubbed it for me, and I listened to it nonstop. It was my opening to the genre known as “Britpop.” Later, of course, I’d delve into Blur, Elastica, Supergrass, and Kenickie. Eventually, this led me to spend my young college days at an 18+ nightclub called “Popscene.”

To this day, I will often declare Different Class to be the best British album of the ’90s. Despite works of genius from Radiohead and Portishead. Despite Oasis becoming a stadium rock monster.

And this year, just a few days before my 16th birthday, Pulp will release a deluxe vinyl edition of the greatest record of the Britpop era. Remastered, with the original album expanded to two slabs of wax for improved quality (as the original was stuffed onto a single record). We also receive new liner notes, photos, and cards from the era, as well as their legendary 1995 Glastonbury performance. The set is scheduled to release on October 24th and can be preordered here. Order one for yourself and another for me, since you’re getting me a birthday present anyway, and it will arrive just in time. Track Listing below an epic 1995 Performance of the aforementioned “Underwear.”
