Our good friends at SF Sketchfest dropped a BUNCH of new shows in our laps for their 20th iteration! Some that I’m really, really excited about. Tickets are on sale now RIGHT HERE!
A few highlights include Fred Armisen taking over the Great American Music Hall for three nights to do Comedy for Bass Players with a special guest every night. When he did Comedy For Drummers, he had Thao Nguyen and Sheila E on board. Comedy for guitarists brought us Brad Pailsey, The Bangles’ Vicki Peterson, and jazz great Bill Laswell. Who is he gonna bring? We’ve got no clue, but it sold out in moments when the guests were announced last year, so I’d be on it?
The Red Room Orchestra is back, and yes, they are doing Twin Peaks again. BUT!!!!! THEY ARE DOING FUCKING REPO MAN!! Repo Man is the film, alongside Decline Of Western Civilization, essentially introduced the world to LA Hardcore. Its accompanying soundtrack is full of classics and anchored by the bonafide standards “TV Party” by Black Flag and “Institutionalized” by Suicidal Tendencies (The “I Just Wanted A Pepsi” song) They even snagged members of The Plugz, Circle Jerks, The Dwarves, and punk rock legend The Kids In The Hall to sit in! Oh, and, BTW, SF Sketchfest organizers- if any of your singers drop off, I can jump in on a moment’s notice on pretty much any of these songs. *Just Sayin*
