Music festivals, heavy metal canned food drives and Snoop to tha D-o-double G. All this and more in a week of music in the Bay Area
Thursday, October 9th
Sondre Lerche at the Independent
When he’s not writing the music for Dane Cook’s best movie (Dan in Real Life), Sondre Lerche is cranking out easy-listening indie ditties and charming crowds across the world. He’ll play concerts for kindergarteners, but only the cool ones.
GusGus at the Great American Music Hall
Friday, October 10th
How the West was Won (Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube, The Game and More) at Shoreline Amphitheatre
It’s not that we didn’t like Snoop Lion, but I think that we can all breathe a collective sigh of relief that everyone’s favorite r/Trees moderator is back in his classic form. If nothing else, there won’t be an uncomfortable moment when he asks the crowd what his mutha-fing name is.
Violent Femmes at the Fillmore

Pomplamoose at the Fillmore
After blowing up Youtube with their indie-funk covers of classic hits like Mrs. Robinson and Single Ladies, Pomplamoose has built a dedicated and devoted fan following. See them weave their magic in person!
Bands4Bands Presents The 8th Annual MetalFest/Canned Food Drive in Association with H.A.R.D. (Hemlock, The Venting Machine, Hemorage and more) at Hayward Memorial Park
Sunday, October 12th
Matty Q’s B-Day Bash (Tripmen, Nuns with Guns, One Armed Joey and more) at 924 Gilman St.
I don’t know who Matty Q is, but I do know that a band called Nuns with Guns is playing and if that’s not enough to get you in the door then I don’t even know why we’re writing a concert guide in the first place.
BayArea Ladyfest: Music to Swoon To (Saoirse Alesandro, Lauren Arrow, Irina Rivkin) at Rose Street House of Music (Fragrance-free venue)
Monday, October 13th
Carnage the Executioner at Elbo Room
It’s Monday night. Why NOT go listen to some angry rap in the Mission? Be advised, Elbo Room has one of those facetious names. It’s a crowded place, is what I’m saying.
Mutual Benefit at The Independant
Tuesday, October 14th
Culture Collide Festival SF (Cloud Nothings, Go Back to the Zoo, Skyroads and more) at The Chapel
The Culture Collide festival is happening at three different venues across two days this week, smashing bands from all over the world together in San Francisco on a weekday to see what happens. Tuesday at the Chapel you can catch headliners Cloud Nothings along with some very talented international acts. One pass buys you admission to all shows at venues for both days, so it’s a pretty great deal.
of Montreal at Great American Music Hall
Wednesday, October 15th
Culture Collide Festival SF (Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Gossling, Nothing But Thieves and more) at the Chapel
Clap Your Hands Say Yeah have one of the best debut albums of all time and you should show them a little respect as they headline day two of the Culture Collide Festival, side-by-side with some of the best indie bands the world has to offer.
Kill the Noise at The Regency Ballroom
