Breaking: John Hughes Has Died
Next thing I knew, I was on Youtube watching a video that was a compilation of great John Hughes movie moments. In that spirit, this is my tribute to the great musical moments (and a couple of others) from John Hughes movies. I don’t have a lot to say here; just watching the clips is enough. Pretty much everyone in my generation got a lot of personality shaping from his movies, so this is just my way of paying tribute.
John Hughes 1950-2009
1. Ferris singing Twist and Shout on a parade float from Ferris Buehler’s Day Off
2. Duckie doing Try a Little Tenderness from Pretty in Pink
3. The Breakfast Club dance scene (won’t embed–click through to watch it)
4. The party scene (with “Beats So Lonely” by Charlie Sexton) from Some Kind of Wonderful (SPOILERS!)
5. The music video to Weird Science with both Danny Elfman and movie clips
6. Those aren’t pillows!
Sigh…excellent picks. I’m a sucker for John Hughes movies. They’re my therapy when I’m blue, and medicine when I’m sick at home in bed.
Can’t forget Home Alone, great soundtrack in general, and we could pick Kevin’s White Christmas scene from that flick. (Aaaaaa!) 🙂
Some Kind of Wonderful and Breakfast Club have wonderful music based ending scenes (Simple Minds for BC). and I prefer the scene where Keith and Watts “practice” kissing and She Loves Me by Stephen Duffy is playing.
I do love Duckie…
