For whatever the reason, it has been a decade-and-a-half since Spinning Platters last wrote about Gogol Bordello (archives). Having seen at least them eight times since the last written review, it’s a real wonder why?! Last summer, Gogol’s publicist really pushed to get their Mountain Winery show covered, but that was just too far for the majority of Spinning Platters’ staff to trek to.
Although Mountain Winery is a wonderful place to see a show, it is entirely more for the seated wine and cheese crowd than a general admission punk rock show with a mosh pit. A comparison of the setlists from The Warfield and Mountain Winery determined that they were 80% identical (15 of 19 songs), so it feels much better to have been able to cover this general admission punk rock show with a mosh pit!
This tour is kind of a family affair for Gogol Bordello with support acts Puzzled Panther and Boris and the Joy. Eugene Hütz of Gogol Bordello produced and plays guitar on the debut EP of Puzzled Panther, and Boris and the Joy features former Gogol Bordello guitarist Boris Pelekh.

Throughout the evening, it was not a surprise to see Eugene onstage (and in the photo pit) during Puzzled Panther’s set, and to see the ladies of Panther onstage during Gogol Bordello’s set.
