Fauxchella Review: Bat For Lashes at The Regency Ballroom, 4/14/13

26

Oh Fauxchella, how do I count the ways?  While most of the world waits diligently to attend something overly populated with clutter, annoyance, and unwelcoming weather, the locally abounding intellects know you will be there for us.  Engrossed entirely inside night four of eight, you gave me Bat For Lashes.  While there were about seventeen other shows that night, none were more sincere than this one.  So much so I’m sure the Great Pumpkin would have agreed.

While I may not be comparing Natasha Khan to a pumpkin patch, in an utmost elegance, I must say: she squashed it.

Spinning Platters Picks Six Interesting Cover Versions from YouTube

Keep that furniture clean!
Keep that furniture clean!

A rather quirky habit of mine is to search through youtube looking for cover songs. I love to watch amateurs do covers of my favorite songs and I love to watch my favorite bands doing their versions of interesting tunes. I have to say there are some really good amateur performances out there but this list focuses on the pro’s. My biggest problem here was keeping this list down to six, but here we go Continue reading “Spinning Platters Picks Six Interesting Cover Versions from YouTube”

It’s pretty easy to see why this show was so sold out.  Bjork and Radiohead endorsements aside, people always seem interested by an artist who opens up a portal into a construct they can deeply explore.  Natasha Khan who is, Bat For Lashes, carries you into her songs in the same way an author submerges readers into the lush world of their own creation.  Full of fairies, birds, ghosts and howling wolves, her thoughtful and refreshingly imaginative music invites you into a world you’re not sure she discovered, envisioned, or simply grew up in.
