Grannies at Annies. Nuff Said.

Shows, shows, shows… That’s all I ever talk about. In this column at least. Ok: go support some live music venues!!!!!!

Wednesday, December 2nd

Morrissey at The Paramount Theater, 8 PM

The king of modern sulking comes to the Paramount, provided he doesn’t pull his signature “canceling his show at the Paramount” move he usually does when he is booked there. It’s a beautiful theater with great acoustics, so I don’t understand why he wouldn’t play there. Maybe he might learn to love it tonight? It will get in the way of the sadness… Anyhow, he’s also touring behind a B-sides record, so expect many hits… And if he doesn’t show, you will get all of the hits, in your headphones on the ride home.

Baroness, Earthless, Iron Age at Bottom Of The Hill, 9 PM

Thursday, December 3rd

NoFX, Wax, Dead To Me, Nathan Maxwell & The Bunny Gang at Slim’s, 8 PM

As you can see below, it’s a punk rock Thursday. So, NoFX will be great, but if it’s either a.) sold out before you get there or b.) the $40 cover is more than a good punk can chew off (it’s a charity gig, so slog off to anyone upset about the price. You’ll get another $15 NoFX show soon enough), check out these other old school shows:

The Grannies, Turbonegra, The Inoculators, The Tempramentals at Annie’s Social Club, 9 PM

Agent Orange, Jokes For Feelings, Black Dream at Thee Parkside, 9 PM

Friday, December 4th

The Dead Hensons (Two Sets- Featuring Members of No Doubt, Chow Nasty, Rogue Wave, and The Rubinoos), Thunderbleed aka Blind Vengeance at Bottom Of The Hill, 9:30 PM

The superstar Muppets cover band gives one final Hurrah! at Bottom Of The Hill. Don’t miss this!!

The Moore Brothers, All My Pretty Ones, B. Hamilton at The Uptown Nightclub, 9 PM

Saturday, December 5th

The Vandals, Voodoo Glow Skulls, Knock Out at Slim’s, 9 PM

There are only six tolerable Christmas records ever, and one of those is The Vandal’s “Oi To The World,” featuring this hot single:

The Cranberries at The Regency Center, 8 PM

Sunday, December 6th

Jonathan Richman featuring Tommy Larkins at Great American Music Hall, 8 PM

Jonathan Richman is a genius songsmith, and a legend of rock n roll. He is an amazing performer and always a joy to see. And, luckily, he is very fond of our writer, Mielle Sullivan, so he plays the Great American Music Hall every year on her birthday. (It doesn’t hurt that she shares a birthday with the Great American’s booking agent) Come down and wish her a happy birthday, and have fun. (Don’t forget to buy Mielle a drink. If you don’t know her, buy every petite brunette a drink until you get to her. This will either make you very popular or get you kicked out very quickly, either way it’s good for business)

The Dollyrots, Perfect Machines, The Departed at Bottom Of The Hill, 8:30 PM

Monday, December 7th

Live 105/Not So Silent Night Local Band Competition at Bottom Of The Hill, 8 PM

Friends of the Platters, I, The Mighty, might be playing this. We just don’t know yet. They are really keeping this contest underwraps, so we won’t know as of press time who is playing this, but we will keep you updated. A lot of great bands are in the running. A lot of crap bands, too, so be be wary.

Tuesday, December 8th

Slow Trucks, Evacuee, The Pentacles at Kimo’s, 9 PM
